Club Fandango has been and gone, and a lot of fun it was too. We've got two local shows left until we take a little break to finish our commitments to LIFE etc. Check 'em out on the ol' gigs page.

If you'd like to see us then please do, we like to be watched, we're a bit like Shannon Whirry in Animal Instincts.

Thank you so much to everyone who came to our shows at Water Rats, Bar Academy and the Oakford Social Club, they were wonderful shows to end our first gigging run of this year.

Boring non-band alter egos are in meltdown over upcoming tests, so we won't be getting changed in too many phone boxes around the UK for now. We are limited to mainly local stripteases. You can see all our dates until June on the 'live' page.

We're spending time with family and loved ones now. Everything is warming but surreal; we can't wait to regroup in April and write more music. See you all soon.

We've got two shows lined up this week - one is at the Good Ship in Kilburn on Monday, the other is a charity shindig for Oxjam at The Graduate Club in Warwick SU. Analysts take note, the latter venue is where the band was first conceived, it's going to be an emotional return and we can't wait.

Recording is happening next weekend too. It's going to be a busy week, we'll be spending the rest of this weekend either rabidly preparing or sleeping, we haven't decided yet.

14/11/07

This page hasn't been touched for a while because internet maintenance isn't what we do best; if it was, I presume we'd all be in IT, not a band.

Suffice to say, we've been busy doing what we do best. Gigs are listed left, right and centre, new songs are being written and rehearsed to death and new recordings are in the pipeline.  We're a happy band right now, join us for joy at The Good Ship in Kilburn this Monday!

13/10/07

Hello. We've been holed up in Reading working on new songs. So far we have two almost finished, called The Perfect Weapon and We Are On The Rocks. We're having a lot of fun experimenting at the moment, we've been reading manuals and doing carpentry. Other new songs we're toying with are Arm's Length, Faultlines, Anything But and an interesting experiment called Our Thoughts Did Not Disturb The Neighbours.

Lots of gigs in November now...

lecartmanoo xxx

08/09/07

Shows are starting to fall into place for November, some of them will go up on the site soon. The next batch of recordings go into the mixing stage this week. Our current, optimistic, ETA on the next EP is 2012, but you know how these things get delayed, so expect it to take longer and avoid disappointment.

If you want us to play a show in your hometown, now would be a very good time to get in touch, as our fingers are poised over the booking buttons on our big gig machine.

lecartmanoo xxx

21/08/07

A brief hello; this site will be keeping uneasily dormant for the next month or two. If you want an advance warning of future eruptions, you can either buy a dog or join our mailing list, the choice is yours.

Things are quiet but industrious. Recordings are in progress, new songs are being penned and revamped and future shows are being considered, we'll definitely be playing live again before the end of the year.

We've bargain-nosed some new equipment, the squeezebox will be making a re-appearance, stage plans are being re-wired... Last time we took time out we changed quite a bit, it's looking that way again.

lecartmanoo xxx

07/07/07

After our shows next week, we'll be disappearing for a while, don't expect to catch us live until October. We've really enjoyed the last year together but desperately need to take time out from gigging to learn new skills and finish the ridiculous number of new songs we've got knocking about! We'll be recording another new song next week, which we'll aim to have online very soon.

Thanks for all your support so far, we'll need you more than ever when we return afresh, we can't wait to be honest. In the meantime, come to one of our three final shows of the summer if you can; we're hitting Derby, Oxford and finally Coventry for Godiva Festival.

All the best,

lecartmanoo xxx

17/06/07

If you stare at this page for long enough, you'll see what our basement currently looks like. We lost a lot of our gear in the Leamington flash floods so things are a bit all over the place now. We're not cancelling any shows and all systems are still go, though progress with new songs has been scuppered like ships as we can't currently practice.

To help us get over this, we've been planning a binge of local comfort gigs at the end of the month, including two gigs in one night, where we'll be shamelessly gorging our way through all our material over two venues in Leamington. Check the gigs page for details.

Quick thanks to everyone who voted for us on the BBC Berkshire show, winning took the edge off drowning.

lecartmanoo xxx

26/05/07

Some new music for you! We've

recorded a song called "Someone Who Can". To hear it, click 'play' on the bottom left of the screen, or visit our MySpace page. We recorded it the other day, we might be doing some more soon...

We're going into a quiet spell for now, need to let the outside world in and get some fresh air. We'll be quietly industrious too, so when we get back we'll be wearing a thick coat of fresh ideas and carefully mapping our way around a new stage setup.

We've played a lot of curious shows recently, one involving drinking vinegar out of someone's mouth and vaulting out from a hundred story building headfirst; extreme, acerbic basejumping. One of us jumped straight to first base but the rest escaped with no points on our license. Someone from Swansea got thrown out of a car. One of us might be falling in love.

We've yet to learn not to exaggerate.

lecartmanoo xxx

30/04/07

Recent turns of events have led to us being offered a slot at Godiva Festival in Coventry. Many of you helped this to happen and for that we're very grateful.

Next up, we're playing at Club 85 in Hitchin alongside our good friends The October Game, we're quite looking forward to that.

lecartmanoo xxx

29/04/07

3B's last night was most excellent fun, another new song firmly beaten into the ground. Thanks to everyone who showed up to support us, t'was a very nice atmosphere!

We're all up early as we're just off to Coventry to see if the human voice can cope with a late night gig in Reading, followed by six hours' sleep and the smoke of a Coventry pub. Needless to say, around 80% of our blood content is currently mouthwash and orange juice.

lecartmanoo xxx

24/04/07

We've got a show in Coventry that we weren't expecting this Sunday at The Phoenix/Campbell. If enough people turn up then boxes will be ticked and we will either get extremely drunk and naked OR get to play at Godiva Festival. Of course if you don't show up, it's likely that only one of those things will happen.

We stormed Jericho the other night, it was fun despite being held off by a battering ram of bass frequencies and a moat of £20 notes guarded by pirhannas.

lecartmanoo xxx

21/04/07

We hit The Jericho in Oxford tonight. It's been over a week since we last played together and we're starving for this show. Hell, it's been over a week since we've all seen each other, the sexual tension on that stage is going to be intense.

Tentative waves and hellos to all the crazy cool people we met last night outside the Zodiac and on Cowley Road, come over and return warm greetings if you make it down tonight.

lecartmanoo xxxx

16/04/07

Thanks to everyone we met on the mini 'not major cities' tour last week, particularly the heroes at Heroes in Maidenhead, surprise of the week it was!

We're only playing a select few more shows this month and in May, and then we're taking a gig break (no, seriously, we actually are!) to finally finish writing the silly number of songs we've got and to record a new demo with our current lineup - we've milked the old one for two dusty years now and it's time to move on.

This Saturday we hit The Jericho in Oxford as part of a Melting Pot showcase. Oxford gigs are always good, we think it's because the tapwater is the finest in the land.

lecartmanoo xxx

07/04/07

Having been tucked away nicely in a corner, we're now being put on a table, taken out of our boxes and dusted down. We expect to be mantlepiece features in a few different places this week - Derby, Windsor and Maidenhead feature heavily in our plans, check out the live page for all the details (or look up and wait).

We've bought yet more ridiculous gadgets at reasonable prices, which should mean the three or four new songs we've had waiting in the wings get some stage time over the next month. After May, we're going to be recording and writing for most of the summer, so get an earful now while you can. If you want us to play in your hometown, get in touch, oh yes.

lecartmanoo xxx

18/03/07

A long awaited band writing break is now in session, demos will be passed around while members are dotted about the place and the next few weeks will be spent pooling ideas and applying the magic paintbrush to the many half-finished animal sketches. We start again as tigers come to life on the 9th April at Ryans in Derby, followed by shows in Windsor and Maidenhead on the 10th and 11th, punching the chests of new songs until the hearts kickstart.

Thanks to all for coming down to Superconnected and Club Velocity to catch our last shows of the month, apparently it will snow later today.

lecartmanoo xxx

17/03/07

Sometimes being in a band is like being a world-weary cop in a gritty late-90s crime thriller, even as a full-time hobby it can elate you and simultaneously leave you at the lowest depths. Either way, it is utterly consuming and can often harm those close to us.

Shoulder-demons, both good and bad, are now AWOL, states of mind are now FUBAR and we are without our maps of rationale, our moral compasses and emotional guidance systems.

The darkest stars are out tonight. We're fine without crutches.

lecartmanoo xxx

12/03/07

Superconnected this Thursday is going to be intense, we've just got word that A Day Remains are reforming to play alongside us in their only show of the year!

Also this Saturday we're hitting Club Velocity in Reading at Plug'n'Play. Following all this we'll be having a short rest, though we'll be playing some shows in April whilst holed up finishing more new songs. We're planning on eventually doing a new demo but we're waiting on that for super secret reasons.

Much love,

lecartmanoo xxx

09/03/07

A few days off on the rescue remedy is what's called for now. Guildford crowds are going in our good books, we met so many wonderful people on Wednesday at Live and Loud, it was great to stick around and chat to you all after the show! Hit the 3B's in Reading last night, travelling across the country for one song at Bohemian Night (it is THAT good), once again got chatting to a lot of nice folks, hope to see some of you on the 17th at Club Velocity.

Extra kudos to the mysterious stranger who we met in Guildford, and completely by chance caught us again in the street last night as we left the 3B's! Small world...

If you read THIS you are BLESSED; disregard all, focus.

04/03/07

An unborn child from the future is teaching one of us to play piano. In the meantime Rodrigo Y Gabriela are teaching another of us the joys of superfast strumtasms. This week has been a bit of a write-off, a lot of education, illness and crash landings.

It all picks up again next week with our show in Guildford at Live and Loud on Wednesday. Click the funny bits for videos. This site is way too easy to update.

A very quick message to say that a clip from the Enterprise gig has found its way onto YouTube. Click the arrow through Stu's head to watch it.

If you missed the video a while back from the Marketplace, clicking the 'tache should get you up to speed!

27/02/07

In the last month we have broken mirrors, had black cats cross our paths and walked under various ladders. We're not superstitious, but something is going on. Fortunately, we figure we've finally paid our debt to the fates after our opening song last night, total malfunction chaos.

Ignoring bad luck, we now consider it bad sense to get those £15 Planet Waves cables, they are dogshit, we've had two brand new ones break the first time we used them. Anyway once we'd laid first impressions to waste and started again, the set was it's usual self and brightwave prevailed. Many thanks to everyone who joined the mailing list and bought cds, it was very cool to meet you all and bend your ears. We'll be back in London in April with lessons learnt and heartstrings tuned.  Something like that anyway...

lecartmanoo xxx

26/02/07

Thanks to everyone who saw us in Oxford last night, particularly those we spoke to after the show! Tonight is the Camden Enterprise show and we're wetting ourselves with glee. We've been getting a convoy together so if you're interested in getting on board from Leamington or Warwick Campus, give us a shout and we'll make the magic happen.

lecartmanoo xxx

22/02/07

Two new songs were finished last night, one is called An Honest Face and the other is untitled, but we'll think of something. We should be playing one or both of these songs at upcoming shows in Oxford and London. We've got around fifteen songs to be worked on over the next few months, I guess our long term aim is to have them all seaworthy by summer.

Anyone interested in coming down to Camden with us next Monday, we're organising a carpool. Tom still has one space in his car and we're looking for drivers (your passengers would cover your fuel costs and you'd get guestlist previleges, what's not to love?), so if you're interested in coming down or driving a bunch of people, drop us an e-mail. Ta muchly!

lecartmanoo xxx

20/02/07

We are not trains in a station overnight, we are the friends of the lorry drivers who light up the motorway at 4am. Right now, we are in motion. Gigs are rolling in on schedule; new songs are pacing about near-complete in a state of limbo, waiting for the final stroke from a magic paintbrush, though we don't know whose. We've been drinking a lot of tea.

We found out yesterday we've got a show in Oxford next Saturday at The Jericho, before our jaunt to the Camden Enterprise on Monday. Coming to either/or of these shows will get you a gold sticker and our overdue respect.

I think the lorry drivers might not be my friends after all; they might be flashing their lights because something is wrong with my car.

lecartmanoo xxx

15/02/07

Lock Dock tomorrow night, we're heading to a late, late practice tonight to get ourselves in shape for it.

Meanwhile, we've started up a Camden Carpool for the show at the Enterprise on the 26th February. We're nearly out of spaces for the current cars we have, so if anyone owns a car and wants to help form a massive gig convoy, get in touch. If you're interested in coming down with us, contact us so we've got an idea of how many cars we'll need!

lecartmanoo xxx

11/02/07

A big, big thank you for everyone who came down to Poptoys in Reading last night, those of you that made it down made it immensely worthwhile, every new face is worth a thousand no shows.

Every gig we think we're taking giant steps towards getting where we want to be. We'll never quite get there, we're inherrently flawed as perfectionists, it's tragic in a way, but what is music without a sense of purpose?

lecartmanoo xxx

09/02/07

Tomorrow is PopToys, we will be driving through the snow tonight. We can't wait for this, it's going to be marvellous. In the meantime we've also been booked for the Camden Enterprise and Club Velocity, which are all happening over the next few weeks. More details going up on all this soon, keep popping your heads round the door and we'll keep you posted. Shows have started rolling in for April/May too...

Thanks to everyone who saw us acoustically at The Hope last night too, t'was nice to meet you all.

lecartmanoo xxx

04/02/07

Barden's Boudoir is the hardest venue to find since the Monument in Newbury. It holds this record despite having a massive sign saying "BARDENS" on the street it's on. Many a mistread lead us into creepy buildings with automatic lights coming on and off, we felt like we'd just driven there in the mystery machine. Fortunately, the venue itself was far less creepy and much more life enhancing, I don't think we've had so much fun just being at a night, let alone actually playing it too!

Tune in later this week for more episodes of us; this Thursday we brush the cobwebs off our acoustics at The Hope in Coventry and on Saturday we hit PopToys with everything we've got in Reading. Yeeoowwwww!

lecartmanoo xxxx

29/01/07

Thank you so much for Bath Place, it was fast and furious and we bled our way through the set. We'll be hoping to repeat and improve the trick next Friday at Barden's Boudoir, provided we aren't feeling too faint.

We're being filmed on Tuesday recording a podcast for our good friends at Pillar Box, it'll just be a couple of us and it'll probably be vaguely unheard tracks too. Don't know why we're telling you though as it won't be released until March!

lecartmanoo xxx

27/01/07

Bath Place tonight wooooo yaaaaay!

We've just realised the nice people who run our website can now do loaaaaads more nice things, so we're giving a site a huge overhaul over the next few days. This'll mean some content is inaccessable for a while, like our photos page, but all will be well and good very soon.

lecartmanoo xxxx

25/01/07

Not really sure what's going on, but gigs are happening left, right and centre and we're starting to practice every night. I think we've finished mixing 'Oliver' but we might have lost it, everything is hazy and nothing is becoming apparent. Working on new songs in our basement has become imperative, they're festering in piles so we need to take them for walks.

Bath Place this Saturday, it'll be nice to play in front of familiar faces. It nearly happened in Oxford recently or so I'm told!

lecartmanoo xxx

13/01/07

Another gig has rolled in sooner than expected. We've now got an uber-fun local show at Bath Place. It's just down the road from us, which is nice. If we don't debut the new songs at Oxford, we'll certainly be airing them there. Come and get your ears around the fresh crop of new.

Tickets for the Port Mahon show are now available online, as well as a lovely flyer. All this can be found by clicking on 'Calendar' way down there and clicking on the 23rd of Jan. DO IT.

lecartmanoo xxxx

lecartmanoo xxx

04/01/07

Three gigs have now been confirmed, evenly spread over the next three months, we're currently in talks with other promoters and venues, so we'll be filling in the blanks as we go.

Our only gig this month is at Port Mahon in Oxford, where we'll be trying out our newest songs for the first time, it'd be great to see you all down there.

Elsewhere we've promised maps, so click on the map, and you'll get a map, oh yes.

lecartmanoo xxx

01/01/07

New Year is here, we'll be announcing some gigs we've booked soon, so far we're hitting Oxford and Guildford over the next few months, we're aiming to get to many other places we've yet to travel to, so if you want us to invade your town in 2007, give us a shout.

Hope you're all safe and warm.

lecartmanoo xxx

29/12/06

Ten days without an update? Well no fear, we've been busy. We've spent a large part of the holidays holed up in Reading, mainly to work on new songs, we've currently got four on the go which we'll show you soon. We also finally went back into the studio to record Oliver, which we'll hopefully have available to hear on the site in less than a year; best to keep our promises easy to improve on...

We've booked a couple of shows but we're taking things lightly for the next few months while we scupt our song guns. Merry tree of commerce and a happy new one!

lecartmanoo xxxx

19/12/06

Last night's gig felt like a daydream, we had some kind of breezy automated enjoyment going on, it was over before it had really started and suddenly there we were, being aurally serenaded by sublime poetry in a post-gig aftermath over a candlelit game of chequers. We still have the fork-flyers that they gave us, this is how we know it wasn't a dream.

We're writing and rehearsing new songs for a couple of days, then it's Christmas break time. In the New Year we're going easy on the gigs until we have something fresh and exciting to share with you. Enjoy spending money on people you care about this December, spend more thought than pounds and get a warm sense of satisfaction. We'll be shopping on the internet with three days to go, Christmas will always be a time of rushed dissatisfaction.

God bless us, every one.

lecartmanoo xxx

16/12/06

All the smoke in Newbury is on our coats, I can barely make any sounds. We whored out James to play basslines for an abrupty formed pub jam band, he did a bass solo as well as Billy Jean and other fun songs while we soaked up the smoke.

It was a lot of fun, but I think regular gigs like that would kill us in the long run. We can't wait for the smoking ban.

Onward to the George Tavern!

lecartmanoo xxxx

15/12/06

We've been a bit dosey of late, in the interim between one gig and the next, everyone's been off visiting their families, or undergoing twelve-hour days at Law College. On a nice plus, our last gig at the Spotted Dog got a lovely review by an intrepid and prolific music blogger, she goes to and reviews gigs from almost every day of the week in Birmingham, quite incredible really. Click on the headphones to have a gander at her page, we're on there somewhere, search for "carter"!

Hopefully we'll be meeting new people in the previously gig-barren land of Newbury for our extra special 'Get Carter' night, playing alongside The Carter Affair, our super best name friends. TNT music are making a huge effort to spark interest in live music over there, so it should be an unpredictable night; they can't possibly be more disinterested than the rock'n'rollers at The Nags, can they?!

lecartmanoo xxx

08/12/06

Warm and comforted do we feel? Yes. Last night's Hope and Anchor acoustic show was a cosy affair, we had a relaxing evening playing some meticulously reworked (as meticulous as you can get in an afternoon) versions of band songs like Someone Who Can and Whitman's Teeth, the marinucci organ made another appearance in Oliver too. It's a great night and we'd recommend it to anyone.

See some of you tonight at the Spotted Dog in Brum as we navigate the ring road system like blind dogs driving cars which chase their own tails. We love Birmingham, we just hate going there.

lecartmanoo xxx

06/12/06

This week we've mostly been wrapped up in song surgery making some brisk cosmetic tweaks to our repertoire. This should mean our lips are puffy and stomachs are leaner for this Friday's gig in Birmingham.

We know we said after Newbury we'd be taking a break, but then we didn't know we'd get a show in London town at a time when all you sunny folks can make it, so we booked it for giggles. Our gig break will resume after these extra duties on the 18th.

As one final aside, if you want to see James and Tom rustle up an acoustic set while the rest of the guys nestle in with their homework, get down to the Hope and Anchor in Coventry on Thursday night! Gigs plugged? Yes.

Over and out danny boy.

lecartmanoo xxxx

01/12/06

Many thanks to everyone who came out to the Derby show last night! If you're reading this and want to get in touch, mosey on over to the 'contact' page at the bottom and that'll give you all you need.

We've all just remembered that it's December now so we can crack open our advent calendars and prepare for warm winter indulgences, or we can begin ridiculous festive health diets; we'll toss a coin for it.

Onward to Birmingham next, then Newbury and then... maybe... a return to London... More of this hereafter.

lecartmanooo xxxx

29/11/06

A new practice space for us? Yes! We set one up last night. The neighbours had been getting a bit flustered with all the noise, so we now go to a different county for practices. It's a big effort, but our neighbours are lovely people and they deserve it.

Having worked out this inexpensive cross-country practice system, we're now refining our songs with all guns blazing and can't wait to hit Derby tomorrow night.

lecartmanoo xxx

24/11/06

We've got just under a week off now, James is using it to fix his kit after everything broke at the Upin Arms. Amps blew and guitars fell apart, but enough about the soundcheck, the real destruction occurred later. Aside from this electric misery, it was actually a joyous occasion. A bit like a wedding; nothing quite goes to plan but you get there in the end and everyone's relieved and happy.

lecartmanoo xxx

22/11/06

We had lots of fun in Industry last night, it's a strange place, surrounded by law firms hellbent on a PR exercise to create the most sterile, barren and hostile environment in their ground floor reception, it was like sadistic modern art. They wouldn't let us in there with our burgers and chips either.

On the other hand, Industry has the best urinals in the country. They're around two feet deep so there's no backsplash at all, it's like pissing into a cave in the middle of winter!

lecartmanoo xxx

21/11/06

If you're coming down to see us at Industry tonight, make sure you get there by 8pm so you don't miss us. Hopefully we'll have found the venue by then!

Flyers can be found by clicking on the kazoo, please bring them with you. It means you get in for £1 cheaper, we get a bit of petrol money and the promoters are happy with us too. Winners all round!

lecartmanooo xxxx

18/11/06

Well, that's it for local shows for a looooong time now, we're off to London, Reading, Derby, Birmingham, Coventry and Newbury before the day is out, then we're having our first ever break! Obviously it won't be a real break, we'll be working like crazy on new songs and live sets in general, as well as possibly doing some Christmas recording. More of this hereafter!

lecartmanooo xxxx

17/11/06

People have asked for more details for our gigs, addresses, door times and such. You can get them by clicking on the "?" on the live page, or just clicking on the "calendar' button at the bottom of the screen.

There ends our speedy, helpful update.

lecartmanoo xxx

17/11/06

Maybe we'll forget we're playing Bath Place in Leamington tomorrow and accidentally head to Leamington Place in Bath. Bath is a nice place, it healed our colds and when we got back home we all got throat infections. Luckily we're over the worst of it now, some with antibiotics, others were real men and slept it off hard. These real men also do not have jobs or work. Feel the power!

Keep sculpting those health guns.

lecartmanoo xxx

10/11/06

So we all got very ill and drove to far away lands to play some gigs. We went to Oxford and had a very nice time, although a pesky pest broke some of Stu's kit. Then we went to Bath, which magically cured our colds, it's a bit like the island in Lost, quite a strange place.

We're on the mend on the meds now and the next two gigs are local, one special magic acoustic show, where we'll be playing lots of unheard stuff, and another at Bath Place, where we'll be hitting the stage with Jaffa Rose, Post War Years and Circle3. Goulet!

lecartmanoo xxx

01/11/06

STOP PRESS! We all got ill in preparation for our week off, then we found out we had a gig this Thursday at The Cellar in Oxford. We're now frantically making a return to health.

Good night, sleep tight, eat lots of fruits and vitamin pills. Smile harder.

lecartmanoo xxx

30/10/06

Hallowe'en is upon us, so it seems fitting that our last gig this month was to a room full of zombies. It wasn't as scary as it sounds, they didn't move much or make any noise and they weren't very interested in our brains, they were a bit boring to be honest. Real life is never like the movies.

This week we have no gigs, so we're all off being ill while we can. We've got a large number of gigs this month, check the gigs page for details. If you want to hear a bunch of new songs before we finish them as a band, we're playing an acoustic show at The Lounge where we'll be previewing it all. Huzzah!

lecartmanoo xxx

20/10/06

So there we were, quietly researching what on earth midi is useful for, when suddenly we discovered some ruffian had stuck a video of us playing a song at the Captain gig on YouTube. The link is hidden on this page...

The video was taken on a cameraphone so I'd advise you stick it on, turn the sound to an acceptable level of ridiculous fuzz noise and enjoy the quite frankly stunning light show!

All the best, see some of you at Lock Dock this Wednesday.

lecartmanoo xxxxx

17/10/06

Last night was a lot of strange business; Tom got hold of a flower and when he put it in his mouth a moustache grew - if you don't believe us you could have seen it, but we updated the website since this update, sorry!

When he took the flower out he told us his theory for saving the world, which was basically calculated scientific genocide. We think the moustache that grew might have been Hitler's. Tom doesn't chew flowers anymore.

We also played a gig at the Jug and Jester, which sounded like a bucket with its tonsils taken out, but it was lovely.

lecartmanoo xxx

13/10/06

Well, we did that whole Captain gig thing. It was, on the whole, wholesome holy fun. The Race were so good that we followed them to Reading to see them again the following night at The Fez, without the ridiculous sound problems.

Thank you to everyone who bought our cd; we've sold out of them again, but hopefully we'll put in the man-hours over the weekend and we'll have a handful more at The Jug and Jester gig, as well as another new song. We're currently on track for having one new song ready for each gig we play...

lecartmanoo xxx

04/10/06

Just a quick update to say a huge thanks to everyone who braved the dead night air to catch our 1am set at Evolve and made a night of it. The dancing, we've decided, should happen more often.

We're hiding away for a couple of days working on getting one new song completed per gig. We wrote around 15 over the summer and undertook the tough tast of prioritising this week. The Marketplace gig next week should be the first time we play at least one song you haven't heard before.

We've just booked a rather sneaky warmup gig for the Captain show, where we may try out new songs on the unsuspecting punters. It will be somewhere in Leamington; think about the place we'd be least likely to play; then think about checking that gigs page we've got to see how right you are and how wrong it all is.

We've just got word that one of our favourite bands The Race have been added to the bill for the Captain gig on the 10th October, check them out on www.myspace.com/raceuk. With this nugget of good news and the fact that we aim to break new songs in like eager virgins, it looks like it'll probably be our favourite gig to date.

Unless of course something amazing happens at the 3B's this Saturday, you should probably come to that and measure our enjoyment at each show with a special meter, let's call it a fun-o-meter.

We've added a music player in the bottom left corner, it has Poison The Lonely on it so you can listen while you browse the site.

We had to cancel the Eddies No. 8 gig unfortunately, it was sadly necessary but we'll get to Birmingham again soon!

Good news! Plenty more gigs rolled in this week, one of which is on the 10th October at the Marketplace with the quite delightful Captain. Check out their music at myspace.com/captaintheband and get as excited as us!

We've also been booked to play on the first night of a new twice-monthly event at the Jug and Jester on the 16th October in Leamington, which'll be our first 'local' gig for many months. You can see these and all our current shows on our funky new calendar linked at the bottom of the page, which has all the details you'll need. Hope to see you at one of all of these shows!

Watch Tom like a hawk.

We're busy doing a whole bunch of things at the moment. Tom's still coral-sniffing in paradise, so Stu takes the place of his face as our front page poster boy. Unfortunately we don't have many photos of Stu, so we went with the most frightening one we could find from the Betsey Trotwood show. Seriously, in all the others, he looks so cool he could probably cure cancer with a fonze-like shrug.

Look out for Stu hiding out on other sections of the site like a really crap Where's Wally figure with a cheeky grin.

The rest of us are in our cubby holes working on that difficult second batch of new material. It's not as difficult as we just made it sound. In fact it's disgustingly simple. New songs will start popping in to setlists, especially at local shows, so expect surprises.

Lately we've fancied stretching our legs, so we're aiming to travel to new, previously unexplored places and gig them to death. Also being planned are a few small shows on home turf to keep us on the boil. We'll keep you posted on all that.

All the current gigs for September and October are on the live page. Click on the zombie knight head to jump to the live page.

A speedy update for you loyal web-checkers. We're all in various corners of the world so things are a bit quiet. I'm writing this from a net café in France.

We recently did some delicate brain surgery on Tom's £5 e-bay organ coup which means it'll actually be possible to gig with it, so look out for Tom's massive organ dwarfing James' small-but-perfectly-formed Marinucci at upcoming shows. Other new gizmos have arrived which we'll tell you more about soon once we've read the poorly translated and frankly retarded manuals.

A lot can happen in three days. However, a lot can also not happen, such as our gig at The Copper Pot, which had to be cancelled at the last minute due to a rather amusing gaffe by the organisers. Apologies if you showed up for that one and found us sorely lacking in your evening plans.

We did manage to play a show at The Betsey Trotwood though, which was so much fun it felt illegal (in certain US states). A massive thanks to everyone who came down for that, it was so nice to pack that place out. We met and saw a spiffing band called Remedial Nymph too, proper boho folk punks, check out "Iris" on their MySpace page (www.myspace.com/remedialnymph), it is the work of clever devils!

Photos of the gig are up, just click on Tom's prosthetic 'tache (doesn't he look like Freddy Mercury without the AIDS?).

Choo choo! We're in Leamington tonight at The Copper Pot, which should be a low key blastbomb, we're really looking forward to that.

Also, we've had a bunch of people asking about Betsey Trotwood flyers for Saturday, so we've made a (very subtle) temporary link on here to them. We've also changed it so you can print two to a page as otherwise it's a waste of paper and we care about trees. Now you can give the spare one to a friend, or a stranger standing outside, or even trees, I hear they're having a pretty tough time of it now.

We went to a gig last night at The Fez in Reading to see a whole bunch of creamy local acts, everyone there was pretty high in the notch department, but in particular was a magical band called The Race, they've got a single out this week called 'Find Out' and it's quite frankly blinding - check it out on their MySpace page www.myspace.com/raceuk

James has remembered what fields of sheep and cows look like on a trip to Devon to buy some guitar picks. They were well worth the journey, they're red. Meanwhile, Tom has been learning to scuba dive so he can find out what coral smells like - he is also planning to dive for guitar picks. Only the most needlessly challenging pick rescue missions for us.

It is not known what JT and the Hoff are doing to aid the pick relief effort, but it believed to be pointlessly spectacular.

Did you know that YOU can help too? By buying just one Carter Manoeuvre demo, you will be giving approximately FIVE guitar picks a safe new home. If that doesn't ease your conscience, you've probably just murdered somebody.

Please. Think.

We're fast settling into some kind of groovy groove; last night in Ascot was big funtime. Big smiles at Sarah for helping us make sounds from all things marinucci and sample - t'was wonderful to hear it working!

Howdy to the funky Jagzsters who came and said nice things after the show, we'll be coming to see you all in various corners of the country soon with any luck. Pop yo'selves on the mailing list if you like and keep on the pulse of our collective heart. There's now a link direct from here to our MySpace page that we added just for youuuuuu.

Our three day gig-pow is complete, we've got two more next week (Leamington and London) but until then we'll be holed up looking at new bits and bobs we've had lying around for ages. Oh, and we'll stick a link to our forum on here, as we just remembered we forgot.

Wooooo! Well last night marked a fresh start for us at The Purple Turtle. We made the start as fresh as possible by introducing a marinucci organ and sampler into the fray for the first time, which produced much fun and frolicks for all. If you were there, a thousand hellos scream your way. If you bought a cd, the hellos are of a distinctly sexual nature.

As fresh and chaotic as this was, it was still only a start. Much work needs to be done, we can rebuild ourselves, better. stronger. faster. Hopefully we shall be a bionic band by 23rd of September when we hit the 3B's with our iron tits. For now though, there is tonight at Jagz, where we expect to remain fully human for the time being.

If you're on this page for the first time, sorry about the ads, they're just squatting here, we're kicking them out at dawn. In fact, we're such damn ruthless weblandlords, they were never even here.

We're back from our weekend adventure and will make another update soon. We played our last gig with Stu Stone in a room of polite bomb-makers in Leicester, it was much fun for all! Recording went really well, you'll be able to hear the tracks when they're done, we don't know when that will be.

We're in the middle of booking another lovely crop of gigs, so keep your ears peeled and your eyes pricked.

Purple Turtle in Reading tonight, see some of you lovely folks down there, come and say something to us, if it's funny we'll give you a big hug.

A quick update for you here, we're just leaving for our recording session in Leamington and will be offline for a few days. Apologies if we don't reply to your e-mails or messages on MySpace. If you're visiting because you're coming to see one of our gigs this week - hello!

That's all we have time for, hope to see a bunch of you groovy types down at The Shed on Tuesday.

July has been a month in intensive care trying to put this band back together again. At times we felt a bit like the footmen and horses of kings clutching at spilled yoke. Somebody told us you can fix fractured nest eggs if you practice enough, so we dug in at Dunsden and worked hard until we all became very ill.

Now we're back in one piece, the next few days will be spent fixing cracks, ironing creases and patching up until we're truly watertight. Soon we'll be joined by the ghost of Stu Stone for one last recording session and farewell gig in Leicester at The Shed. From then on it's onward with the new regime, sailing off to gigs in Reading, Ascot, Birmingham, Leamington and, at long last, our first venture into London at the Betsey Trotwood.

Until then, be well. See you in August.
